Weekend Projects: Tourmaline Hoops, Wall Trees and more

As I usually do, I have many a project currently in the works; juggling them all at once. I’m working on turning my Tree of Life cabochon pendants into a much smaller earring size and the new bird nest pendants into brooches. I’m also teaching myself how to make hoop earrings, working on new bracelets, new necklaces and… more. 🙂

Sterling Silver Hoop Earrings

I’m rather pleased with how the hoops are turning out. I got a beautiful strand of tiny faceted multi-colored Tourmaline a couple of weeks ago, and have been very anxious to use them. Wonderful little crystals of pinks, blues, yellows, greens, reds, purples…

Faceted Crystal Tourmaline Hoops

…every color of the rainbow. I just love them.  These last few months, Tourmaline has definitely become one of my favorite stones.

In and amongst all of that, the wall tree got some attention yesterday. You may remember my mentioning that a long while back. Poor tree hasn’t gotten my time in awhile. I got frustrated and had to set ‘er aside.

Yesterday, every time I walked by it, it called to me. Couldn’t seem to pass by without wrapping a branch or two. Finally I just decided to give in and I finished wrapping up all the branches I had strung so far, she’s currently looking like…

Wall size Tree of Life

…that.

As you can see, she’s a whopper. Much MUCH bigger than the pendants. Mucho.

I’m not in love with it yet, but…It’s coming along. I have some left over stones from the mix I bought, so I think I’ll try to weave those in; hopefully that will thicken up the trunk and fill in the canopy some more. No likey thin tree trunks and sparse leaves.

In the end I plan to antique it, which truthfully… I have no idea how to do on a large scale. Need to get a big glass… something… to fit it in.

I’ll worry about that part when I get there. First, wrap and twist, twist and wrap.

Here’s me, off to play with mah shinies.

Adventures in… wall art. 😀

That rocks too.

A night of jewelry: Pendants, Earrings and Tie Chain

I decided to hide away for the night and make shiny. Or… try at least. Some went well, some… not so much. Got a few new pieces finished up thou…

Those are the ones I’m pleased with. Played with pearls and one of my new Ametrine briolettes. I’m so in love with those new crystals.

Most of the night was spent remembering how hard that Half Persian 4 in 1 was. Once I got cruisin on that bracelet, it was easy peasy. I’d forgotten that it took 3 days to get it started right.

Now I remember.

I tried to make another chain of that tonight. A friend of my fell in love with the bracelet and almost ran off with it before I got it shipped out. He asked me to turn it into a tie chain for him so…I ordered smaller rings and thought I’d give it a go. Those just came in and he brought me one of his ties so I thought I’d see how that went.

It’s not done yet, but so far…

That’d be it. I’m not sure I’m in love with it. It looked better in my head. I’m not done with it yet, so maybe it’s too early to tell. Dunno. I may need to see if it’s possible to go smaller with it. Not sure it’s doable thou. Maybe a 3 in 1 would work better. I think a 3 in 1 can be made smaller than a 4 in 1.

*shrugs* hard to say.

I figure worse case, I’ll make this one a bracelet. I loved the other one, but it was too wide for my wrists. This one would be perfect for me.

I kinda like that plan. That is my favorite weave so far and, well, I need a bracelet. 😀

Anyhoo, not a bad haul for an evening. I am pleased.

🙂

Chainmail goodies

Chainmail chainmail, oh my how I’m loving the chainmail.

I taught myself a little bit the other night with a pair of earrings. And I am now in love. It’s a bit tricky, but already I’m starting to get the hang of it. Oh, the plans I have for chainmail.

So far, I’ve made a pair of earrings using a Helm Weave…

Simple goodies

I’ve been over here busy as a little bee again. Or maybe “still” is more accurate.

I’ve been working away on my first sterling silver Tree of Life pendant, which is finally coming together. I’m amazed at how different sterling wire is to work up. Not nearly as malable as the copper based artistic wire I’ve made the other trees with. The more you work silver, the harder it gets. Strange that.

But it’s coming together nicely. I hope to be done with it tonight, tomorrow at the latest.

Last night I took a break from piecing the amethyst together for the tree, made up some simple little earrings to throw in the shop. Broke out some Czech glass beads and made my first pearl earrings too. I’m rather pleased with those.

I’m rather pleased with my pearls. 🙂

Now to price them and list them in the shop. I’m trying so vera hard to get as many things made up and listed as I can. Valentine’s Day is coming after all. Tis the season for jewelry. I hope.

Then back to mah tree. It’s going to rock. I just know it. 🙂

Adventures in jewelry.
